광장시장 찹쌀꽈배기

Gwangjang Sijang Chapssal Kkwabaegi is a glutinous rice twisted donut shop at the entrance of Gwangjang Market's bindaetteok alley in Jongno-gu, Seoul, widely recognized as one of the market's most iconic street food destinations among both Korean and international visitors. Each kkwabaegi is shaped and fried to order in full view of customers. The exterior shatters with a satisfying crunch while the inside is plump with dense, chewy glutinous rice dough, finished with a coating of cinnamon sugar. All of this comes at just 1,000 won per piece. The pat donut is generously filled with red bean paste that delivers a subtle, lingering sweetness, while the sweet potato glutinous rice variant wraps stretchy dough around a sweet potato filling for doubled richness. The black rice glutinous rice donut stands out with its dark color, combining the nutty depth of black rice with gentle red bean sweetness. The frying process produces remarkably little grease — paper bags stay nearly spotless even after transport, and reheating in an air fryer at 150 degrees Celsius for two to three minutes closely restores the freshly fried texture. Despite the intimidating queue, the line moves quickly thanks to continuous batch frying, with typical wait times of ten to fifteen minutes. The shop accepts cash, card, bank transfers, and Onnuri gift certificates, and operates daily from 10 AM to 10 PM, closed on the first Sunday of each month.
