Tosokchon Samgyetang 토속촌 삼계탕

Ground nuts and grains thicken the broth into something closer to a potage than the clear samgyetang most places serve, and that nutty soup outweighs the chicken itself. Each diner gets a small glass of ginseng liquor, and because it is quite bitter, some pour it into the hot soup. It is about a 10-minute walk from Gyeongbokgung Palace, and water comes in sealed bottles rather than a jug. Sansam samgyetang with wild ginseng and ogolgye samgyetang with black-skinned silkie chicken join the standard bowl, and the kkakdugi and cabbage kimchi are lightly seasoned and slightly sweet. The huge dining room moves lunch queues quickly, and the menu is printed in several languages. The lot gives one free hour but has very few spaces.
