Dongbinggo 동빙고

Finely shaved ice gets a generous layer of whole Korean red beans and plain injeolmi rice-cake pieces with no powder coating. Condensed milk is hidden inside the ice, so the sweetness only spreads once you dig down and stir. Chestnut, ginkgo and a dusting of cinnamon round out the patbingsu, and the green tea and strawberry versions use the same beans. The shop is small and asks for one item per person, and queues are common but move fast. Patjuk, a warm red-bean porridge, keeps takeaway orders coming even in winter, and one bingsu plus one patjuk is a sensible split for two.
