장꼬방

Jangkkobang is a patbingsu and chapssaltteok specialist near Gangnam Station in Seocho-gu, Seoul, operating for over a decade and maintaining a dedicated following. The signature patbingsu features finely shaved milk ice topped with generous house-cooked red beans, roasted jujube chips, and thinly sliced raw chestnuts that add a nutty flavor and crisp textural accent. The red beans lean toward a wholesome, moderately sweet profile with grains that retain their shape, and a hidden middle layer of more red beans and roasted soybean powder ensures consistent flavor through to the bottom of the bowl. Two large traditional cauldrons sit inside the shop where the red beans are cooked in view, and the chapssaltteok (glutinous rice cake) is made with mugwort and filled with red bean paste containing mixed nuts. In winter, the patjuk (red bean porridge) becomes the star, topped with cinnamon powder, tteok, and chestnuts, with portions generous enough to serve as a full meal. The shop occupies a quiet alley set slightly apart from the main Gangnam commercial zone, with schools nearby keeping the surroundings calm, and the atmosphere is particularly pleasant around sunset.
