I had the seogwan-myeonsang set and seonbi naengmyeon at this Pyeongyang-style naengmyeon specialist near Gyodae Station. The first sip of broth before unwinding the noodles delivers a clean yet layered, refined flavor, and the 100-percent Jeju buckwheat noodles carry a fragrant buckwheat aroma that harmonizes with the broth, showing the essence of Pyeongyang naengmyeon. The myeonsang set at 18,000 won includes a small salad, porridge, bulgogi, one dumpling, one slice of boiled beef, plus dessert fruit and a drink, making it reasonable value. The bulgogi was so good that resisting an extra portion was difficult. Adding the house kelp vinegar from the table halfway through the meal introduces a different layer of umami. Listed in the Blue Ribbon Survey for seven consecutive years, the interior is elegant and well-suited for group dining. Lines form before the 11 AM opening, and parking is valet at 3,000 won. If you lean toward Hamheung-style naengmyeon, the milder profile here may not meet your expectations.
