Near Gwangjang Market. Uraeok is a landmark Pyongyang-style naengmyeon restaurant in Euljiro, Jung-gu, Seoul, in continuous operation since 1946. The clear broth, extracted through a lengthy simmer of beef bones and sagol (leg bones), initially presents as mild, but with every spoonful a deep, weighty beefiness fills the mouth, building layers of umami that intensify progressively. This structural depth makes the dish approachable even for first-time cold noodle diners and, according to devoted regulars, prevents fatigue even after dozens of visits. The buckwheat noodles carry a pronounced grain aroma with a texture that balances chewiness and a satisfying snap at a moderate thickness. White kimchi, sliced beef brisket, and Asian pear garnish contribute their natural flavors without relying on heavy seasoning, and the restrained sweetness from the pear anchors the overall harmony of the bowl. The bulgogi, though modestly portioned, delivers a sweet, concentrated flavor that pairs beautifully with the cold noodles as a course, and the clear-broth galbi-tang alongside kkakdugi offers another clean, complementary option. The bibim naengmyeon sauce also receives strong acclaim. Table registration is available exclusively on-site through the Tabling system starting at 9:30 AM, with service running from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Weekend lunch queues commonly exceed 90 minutes, so arriving around 3 PM on a weekday is the most efficient strategy. The parking lot is reasonably large but requires a 3,000 won valet fee, with a two-hour limit and 1,000 won per additional ten minutes.
