Falafel of ground, fried chickpeas goes into pita with salad and a spoonful of hummus as sauce, the meat-free combination most tables order at this long-standing Jordanian halal spot in Itaewon. Baba ghanoush, an eggplant dip, disappears quickly with extra pita. For meat, the lamb kebab is tender with a char-grilled edge. Lamb bandi sets slow-cooked lamb leg in tomato sauce over rice, and the kofta, lamb meatballs, carry no gamey smell. Sides are chosen among pita, saffron rice, and couscous, and the white garlic sauce suits almost everything. Mains are large enough that one per person is plenty. Most staff are from the region, so English works better than Korean for ordering, and no alcohol is served.
