Across from the Seoul Museum in Buam-dong, a wood-furnished room with a staircase and sofas, styled like a book cafe, turns out thick pork-loin cutlets. Seokpajeong pavilion and the Yun Dong-ju Literary Museum are nearby, and parking sits behind the building. A bus stop right outside makes it just as easy to arrive without a car. Brown Tonkatsu has a thin, crisp crust around moist, fully cooked pork, served with a brown sauce made in-house that tastes unlike standard tonkatsu sauce. Segeomjeong Chicken Katsu swaps dry breast meat for tender thigh meat and comes topped with a sweet-spicy soy sauce, close to the Korean-Chinese fried chicken dish yuringi. Portions are large enough that some diners leave part of the plate. A sweet, creamy carrot soup, ordered on the side, makes a good starter.
