마싯내

I had the deungsim tonkatsu at Masitnae, a tonkatsu specialist near Seokchon Lake. It follows the Korean gyeongyangsik style with rock-solid fundamentals: the breading was perfectly crisp, and the meat was thick yet tender. The sweet sauce comes drizzled only halfway, and pairing each bite with the mustard dip, crispy lotus root chips, and sprout greens created wonderful variety from a single plate. The set includes cream soup, a clear Japanese-style broth, and dessert yogurt, making the whole composition feel thoughtful. Try the Masitnae tonkatsu, their unique version where you wrap the cutlet in a thin wheat crepe with vegetables. Reservations are not accepted, but calling ahead during lunch to check the wait is a good idea.
