Ohyangga Garak Bonjeom has operated in Garak-dong, Songpa-gu since 2010, earning a devoted following for its signature ohyang jokbal and fiery jjamppong. The braised pork feet are simmered to a dongpo-rou level of tenderness, falling apart softly at the table. When refrigerated and eaten the following day, the texture firms into something chewier and springier, offering a different experience worth planning for. The jjamppong carries unmistakable wok-fired smoky depth with generous helpings of seafood and meat, delivering a satisfying, spice-forward bowl. Mapo tofu rice and fried rice are the unannounced standouts of the menu: both carry excellent wok aroma and come in portions that leave nothing lacking. The tangsuyuk is made in the old-school style, with a crispy batter shell that forms an air pocket between the coating and the meat, served alongside a classic white dipping sauce. Jokbal is available during dinner service only. Arriving after 1 PM avoids the worst of the lunch crowd, and the kitchen does not accept reservations. The restaurant has built its following through more than a decade of consistent cooking in one location, a track record worth noting.
