뽕나무쟁이 본점
Ppongnamujaengi Bonjeom, located near Seolleung Station in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is the original flagship of one of the capital's most celebrated jokbal (braised pig's trotter) brands, frequently mentioned alongside Seoul's top-tier jokbal establishments. While the chain operates multiple locations including one in Bangi-dong, this Yeoksamro branch serves as the founding restaurant. The signature assorted jokbal platter includes both the classic plain preparation and a seasoned yangnyeom version. The plain jokbal is prized for its remarkably tender, chewy texture completely free of any gamey odor, while the seasoned variant is considered exceptional enough to warrant ordering on its own. The meat's softness has drawn comparisons to steamed egg custard, underscoring just how melt-in-the-mouth the preparation achieves. Wrapping generous portions in the accompanying fresh vegetables amplifies the experience, and pairing the platter with the chilled jjangban makguksu (buckwheat noodles on a large tray) has become the standard ordering combination. A self-service bar provides additional side dishes. The restaurant spans a spacious ground floor and a basement level, yet still reaches near-full capacity during dinner hours, with waits occasionally exceeding 16 parties. Pre-registering through the Tabling app is highly recommended. The notable trade-off is the extremely tight table spacing, which combined with the convivial drinking atmosphere generates considerable noise levels that diners should anticipate.
