바람난오리궁뎅이
Baramnan Ori Gungdaengi is a duck restaurant in the Jeongneung-dong area of Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, nestled along Jeongneung Stream on the approach toward Bukhansan National Park's Bogungmun gate. The restaurant offers a full range of duck preparations including roast duck, spicy stir-fried duck (jumullak), and neungi ori baeksuk (duck soup with pine mushrooms), though the majority of diners opt for the roast duck. A large stone plate sits at the center of each table, and staff cook the meat directly in front of guests - all diners need to do is pick up their chopsticks. The roast duck is served with an unusual but well-loved combination of melted cheese and egg on the stone plate, and wrapping the meat with kimchi and chives creates a particularly satisfying bite. The jumullak, stir-fried on the same sizzling stone plate, pairs beautifully with pickled perilla leaves. Every meal concludes with fried rice pressed onto the hot stone plate for a crispy finish. A complimentary perilla porridge comes with chewy joraengi rice cakes inside, delivering a rich, nutty flavor that serves as a standout appetizer. The neungi ori baeksuk impresses with its deeply aromatic broth infused with pine mushroom fragrance. After the meal, guests receive complimentary plum tea and ice cream as dessert. The restaurant is a natural dining destination after hiking Bukhansan, offering hearty, restorative fare in generous portions. Evening visits frequently involve a wait, so arriving early or on weekdays is advisable.
