Baramnan Ori Gungdaengi 바람난오리궁뎅이

A thick stone slab takes up the middle of every table, and staff cook the duck on it in front of you. Ori roseu (plain roasted duck) renders its fat into kimchi and seasoned chives on the same slab; ori jumulleok is coated in a red gochujang-based sauce and wrapped in pickled perilla leaves. The okkumi set adds webfoot octopus to the duck, and the kitchen also tops the slab with cheese, egg and squid. Perilla-seed porridge with chewy rice-cake pieces and cold dongchimi (radish water kimchi) arrive while the meat cooks, and fried rice pressed onto the slab closes the meal. The restaurant sits along Jeongneungcheon stream toward Bukhansan, and evenings usually involve a wait.
