신승반점(新勝飯店)

Sinseung Banjeom (New Victory Restaurant) is a Chinese-Korean restaurant in Incheon's Chinatown, operated by descendants of Gonghwachun — widely recognized as the birthplace of Korean jajangmyeon. It consistently ranks among the most popular dining destinations in the district. The signature yuni jajang features finely minced meat and onions stir-fried with chunjang (black bean paste), producing a deeply roasted aroma that immediately distinguishes it from franchise alternatives. The thin noodles pair beautifully with the thick, glossy sauce, earning the dish a reputation for being in a class of its own among jajangmyeon. The jjamppong offers a clean, refreshing broth generously loaded with seafood and pork, while the baek jjamppong (white jjamppong) highlights an abundance of shellfish in a pure, clear soup. The bokkeumbap (fried rice) delivers a fluffy texture with authentic wok char that evokes nostalgic flavors, making it an essential order alongside the noodle dishes. The glutinous rice tangsuyuk stays crispy on the outside with a moderately sweet glaze, faithfully recreating the old-school style. The medium shrimp ganpunggi also achieves an excellent crispy-outside, tender-inside balance. The gun-mandu are handmade with generous chives for a clean flavor, rather than being factory produced. The seasonal winter gul-jjamppong (oyster jjamppong) receives mixed reviews, so expectations should be calibrated. Staff are Chinese-speaking, and communication may require patience and slow, clear ordering. Holidays see queues of twenty or more parties forming immediately after the eleven o'clock opening, with approximately one-hour waits. Weekday visits are considerably easier, and combining the meal with a Chinatown walking tour makes for a well-rounded outing.
