Rotary Sikdang 로타리식당

Rotari Sikdang is a baekban restaurant at 2-1 Seogyo 3-gil in Yeosu, in a narrow lane across from the traditional Seomarket area. Instead of dividing the menu into several separate mains, it places Yeosu crab preparations and southern Korean side dishes together in one fixed set meal for each diner. Spicy marinated crab coats the shell and meat with a red seasoning that carries heat and sweetness. Soy-marinated crab moves toward salt, fermented depth, and the natural sweetness of the crab, with the liquid easily carried onto rice. Crab doenjang stew anchors the spread with hot broth, the clean savor of shellfish, and earthy soybean paste. Its temperature and soup format contrast with the cold marinated crab and vegetable sides. Stir-fried pork adds a warm, spicy meat component for a diner who does not want seafood in every bite. Gat kimchi supplies the sharp leaf aroma and fermented acidity associated with Yeosu. Braised or dried pollock and several namul dishes divide the remaining table between chewy fish and restrained vegetables. A clear eating sequence is to place spicy crab on one spoonful of rice, use soy crab and gat kimchi on the next, and return to the stew between them. This keeps the red seasoning and soy marinade distinct instead of mixing every side at once. The pork provides a separate center for a companion less comfortable with crab, while the namul reduces the intensity of the seafood and fermented sides. Side dishes are replenished, allowing the table to adjust the amount of crab, greens, or kimchi as the rice continues. The dining room is small, with roughly four standard tables and four low platform tables, so a line can form outside and the meal follows the turnover of the room rather than a long reserved course. Vehicle access passes through the narrow lanes above the shop and around Seomarket. Rotari's strongest purpose is compression: spicy crab, soy crab, crab soybean-paste stew, gat kimchi, pollock, vegetables, and pork present several defining Yeosu flavors without requiring separate restaurant stops for each specialty.
