Yuchihoegwan is a 24-hour haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant located on Hyowon-ro in Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, with a history stretching back to 1987. The soup features a deeply beefy, oil-rich broth that is thick and robust, loaded with so much tender meat that the seonji (ox blood curd) must be served in a separate bowl because the stone pot simply cannot hold it all. The portions of both meat and seonji rank among the most generous of any haejangguk restaurant in the country, with many diners finding the seonji too plentiful to finish. The flavor profile centers on an intense beef richness reminiscent of Gyeongsang-do regional soup traditions, making it an ideal match for those who appreciate a bold, fatty broth. That same richness, however, divides opinions: diners who prefer lighter, cleaner broths may find it overly greasy. The true counterbalance comes from the musaengchae, a sweet and tangy shredded radish salad that cuts through the heaviness with remarkable efficiency. The house-made kkakdugi and kimchi complement the soup further. A spacious parking area sits in front of and across from the restaurant, making car access straightforward. The restaurant fills to near capacity even before 11 AM on Fridays, so arriving in the early morning or pre-dawn hours is the surest way to secure a seat without waiting. Takeout is also popular among regulars.
