Ujin Haejangguk is a Jeju traditional hangover soup restaurant on Seosa-ro in Jeju-si, serving two dishes unique to the island: gosari yukgaejang and momguk. The signature gosari yukgaejang is prepared by simmering pork and bracken fern for hours until the ingredients break down into a thick, porridge-like consistency. Each spoonful delivers an intensely savory, earthy richness that lingers on the palate. Adding black pepper midway through introduces a flavor shift that keeps the dish engaging from start to finish. Momguk takes a different path, using mojaban seaweed in a clear, mild broth that provides a refreshing counterpoint for those who prefer lighter flavors. Nokdu bindaetteok, a mung bean pancake with a crisp exterior and moist interior, pairs well with the soups, though ordering two bowls of soup alone typically provides ample quantity. The dishes carry the distinctly salty and nutty flavor profile characteristic of authentic Jeju cuisine and are praised as a gentle, easily digestible breakfast option. Parking at the public lot directly in front of the restaurant earns one hour of free validation, with full-day free parking on public holidays. A waiting room and unmanned cafe inside reduce discomfort during the wait, but lunchtime queues regularly exceed one hour, stretching to two hours on weekends. Arriving at opening time is the most efficient strategy. Table turnover within the restaurant is relatively brisk.
