Hannam-dong Hanbang Whole Dalk 한남동한방통닭

Oak firewood roasts the hanbang tongdak, a whole chicken stuffed with glutinous rice, garlic and medicinal herbs, until the skin turns paper-thin and shatters while even the breast stays moist. The rice inside soaks up chicken fat and herbal aroma and goes well with the fresh kimchi geotjeori served alongside. Seasoned salt, mustard and a spicy sauce come with it, and draft beer is on tap. Redevelopment pushed the shop to a new two-floor site, which lost some old-house atmosphere but kept the same bird. Closed Sundays. There are no app bookings: leave a phone number at the door and staff call when a table opens, and weekday evenings still mean 30 minutes or more. Takeout can be booked by phone on weekdays only.
