The Portuguese-style egg tarts, baked near the entrance to Sokcho Central Market, have a crust that shatters in thin layers and a custard with only a gentle sweetness. Walnut and cream-cheese versions are also made, and a half-and-half box takes two flavors; on some days reserved customers are handed a warm tart to try on the spot. The walnut pie crunches with nuts and tastes a little like chestnut pie.
