Apdeul Sikdang 앞들식당

Apdeul Sikdang is a marsh clam restaurant at 343-1 Seonin-ri in Sacheon-eup, Sacheon. The business began in 1987, has continued through three generations, and holds Korea's Century Store certification. Its marsh clam soup places small clams in a clear broth that is not reduced to a heavy concentration. The broth keeps the shellfish aroma restrained, while chopped green chili adds a sharper edge without changing the soup into a red, spicy stew. Marsh clam soybean paste soup combines clam meat and broth with doenjang and arrives bubbling hot. It is a separate preparation from the transparent clam soup, with fermented soybean paste determining the color and body of the liquid. The marsh clam rice-bowl set serves the shellfish with rice and includes a small bowl of clear clam soup. A set combining Korean beef and stir-fried octopus and a separate seasoned marsh clam dish also appear on the menu. Stir-fried octopus uses a red seasoning with sweetness and moderate heat rather than an aggressively hot sauce, and the set includes a bowl of marsh clam soup. The rolled omelet is thick and remains moist inside. Mackerel is cooked hard enough on the surface to resemble a shallow-fried finish. Omelet, grilled mackerel, kimchi, and other small dishes are arranged with the clam soup or octopus set on the same table. Expansion and remodeling increased the size of the dining room, which contains tables ranging from four to eight seats. Seasoning across the meal is pronounced, while the octopus retains both sweetness and measured chili heat.
