Sanchon Sin Jjukkumi is a jjukkumi (baby octopus) specialty restaurant on Ori-ro in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi-do, reached by driving along a forest road that opens onto a cabin-like structure set among the trees. The hillside location provides clean air and dense greenery, offering a dining atmosphere that feels far removed from the city. The jjukkumi set meal is priced at approximately 12,000 to 13,000 won per person and centers on spicy stir-fried baby octopus accompanied by acorn jelly cold soup, balsamic salad, acorn pancake, seasoned radish, and bean sprout salad. The jjukkumi carries a subtle smokiness from the cooking method and maintains a tender texture, though even the standard spice level may prove challenging for those with low heat tolerance. The recommended way to eat is to pile octopus, bean sprouts, and seasoned radish over rice and mix thoroughly, when the heat builds, a spoonful of the cold acorn jelly soup provides effective relief. The optional king prawn tempura (four pieces for 8,000 won) is crispy and consistently praised, and a children's donkatsu option at 7,000 won is also available. Seasoned radish and bean sprout salad are self-refillable, while other side dishes carry additional charges. After the meal, presenting the receipt at the adjoining beverage station yields one complimentary drink, Americano, iced tea, or cafe latte, which can be enjoyed while looking out at the surrounding forest. The mountain setting makes driving essential, and the parking lot is spacious with an attendant to guide vehicles. The restaurant reaches capacity even during weekday lunches, so avoiding peak meal times is advisable. An announcement regarding a temporary closure due to local redevelopment was made in August 2024, and confirming current operating status before visiting is strongly recommended.
