Kiriyama Honjin 기리야마본진

The noodles are pulled in-house and come out thinner than typical udon, yet just as chewy as the thick kind. Zaru udon is served cold with tsuyu that has grated yam (tororo) stirred in, which softens the salt and helps the dip cling to the noodles. The king-prawn tempura udon carries a large prawn and a fried chili pepper in a thin, light batter. The restaurant is a spacious basement hall with private rooms, set back from the main road near Gangnam Station. Weekday lunch brings a wait, and parking is free for one hour.
