A remarkably affordable baekban (Korean set meal) restaurant in the Gonghwa-dong neighborhood of Yeosu, run by an elderly couple who personally handle both cooking and serving. Ordering the kimchi-jjigae set brings not only the main pork kimchi stew but also miyeok-guk (seaweed soup with clams), soy-marinated crab, and over ten varieties of banchan, an exceptional spread that costs just 6,000 won with cash payment, a level of value rarely matched anywhere in the country. The kimchi-jjigae has a deep, well-developed flavor, and food arrives almost immediately after ordering. Every side dish reflects genuine home-style care, and the owners readily provide additional portions when asked. Adding seodae-hoe-muchim (fermented flatfish salad), a Yeosu specialty, for 10,000 won is highly recommended: its sweet-and-sour tang pairs perfectly with rice, and mixing it bibimbap-style makes the dish even more satisfying without needing any additional soy sauce. The most efficient way to order for two or three people is a few set meals with one plate of seodae-hoe to share. Breakfast service is available, making it a strong choice for the first meal of a Yeosu trip. The owners warmly bid farewell to every departing guest with blessings.
