Chadeokbun 차덕분

Chadeokbun is a tea house spanning units 801, 802, and 803 on the eighth floor of Gueup Baetteo Plaza at 12 Eunhasu-ro in Jung-gu, Incheon. Three connected units follow the sea-facing side of the building. A main hall and two smaller inner rooms open toward windows overlooking the water and islands off Yeongjongdo. Low platform seats line part of the window wall and require sitting without shoes, while standard-height tables and chairs occupy other sections of the rooms. The tea menu is divided into cold infusions, leaf teas, and flower teas. Wolgwangbaek is prepared as a cold tea. Aegiseolguk uses intact flowers for both form and aroma. Gyeongju Hongamcha belongs to the leaf-tea selection, and Fujian molihua tea pairs tea leaves with jasmine fragrance. A tea setting is arranged on a wooden tray with a small pot, a serving vessel, and individual cups, keeping steeped leaves and poured tea in separate pieces of ware. Food alongside the tea includes ang-butter monaka, which sandwiches red-bean paste and butter between thin crisp wafers. Walnut and dried-persimmon rolls place a walnut inside dried fruit before slicing the cylinder into cross-sections. Grilled garaetteok browns long pieces of cylindrical rice cake. Hojicha silk-thread bingsu stacks fine strands of ice flavored with roasted tea, creating a layered mound rather than coarse shaved flakes. Chestnut ice cream is served as a separate cold dessert built around the nut. Cups, pots, and small plates share one tray but retain clear roles for pouring, drinking, and eating. Shelves around the interior hold teacups, kettles, brewing tools, and small traditional objects, with selected pieces also presented as merchandise. The sea-facing platform seats keep the line of sight low and outward, while the ordinary tables stand farther inside the hall. That physical separation between platform and chair seating remains visible across the connected eighth-floor rooms.
