Native-breed chicken gives the meat more chew than usual. The eom-namu nurungji dak-baeksuk, chicken boiled with kalopanax bark and served with scorched rice, is followed by a big pot of rice porridge, so two people usually end up taking the scorched rice home. That rice is already seasoned and the dish has little broth, so tables that want soup order the neungi-beoseot (black hoof mushroom) version. Cabbage kimchi, mustard-leaf kimchi and pickled wasabi suit the mild chicken, and buckwheat pancakes are free on weekdays.
