Seobuk Myeonok 서북면옥

Seobuk Myeonok is a 1968-established naengmyeon shop in Guui-dong. The dongchimi-based broth leads with a savory, slightly salty punch and finishes with subtle sweetness from radish, making it one of the more approachable Pyongyang-style naengmyeons for first-timers. The noodles are not pure buckwheat but have decent elasticity and break cleanly, while the single large slice of arongsatae beef on top is impressively smooth in texture. Pyeonyuk carries a mild herbal aroma from braising, with skin that has a chewy, chashu-like bite. House-made kimchi is sharp and tangy, contrasting neatly with the sweet musaengchae that accompanies the sliced meat. At 12,000 won for naengmyeon, it undercuts most Seoul pyeongnaeng shops. The dining room is compact, so seats fill quickly, but the lack of a break time means off-peak visits are possible. Guuimun parking lot is about a one-minute walk away.
