Myeongwolgwan is a premium Korean beef restaurant located within the Walkerhill Hotel complex in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, reputed to be among the first establishments to receive top-grade cuts when they become available in the domestic market. The restaurant uses high-quality charcoal that imparts distinctive depth to the beef, and a smoke-free pan system keeps the dining environment comfortable. The annex offers a hanwoo omakase experience where the chef personally prepares everything from chimatssal yukhoe (skirt steak tartare) and yukjeon (beef pancake) to grilled prime cuts, with mosiljogae dashima sotbap (clam and kelp pot rice) served as the closing course. The soy-marinated galbi carries a doenjang-base seasoning that is particularly well-received, and both bulgogi and galbitang maintain high standards. The doenjang-jjigae made with blue crab delivers surprisingly deep flavor and pairs beautifully with rice, while mixing rice with the remaining bulgogi sauce is a recommended move. The restaurant commands a view of the Han River and delivers hotel-level hospitality with attentive, thoughtful service, making it an excellent choice for family celebrations, anniversaries, and other special occasions. Membership enrollment brings prices closer to those of standard high-end hanwoo restaurants, and valet parking is available.
