Sanchon 산촌

Temple food without meat or the five pungent vegetables is served as a course inside a hanok at the far end of an Insa-dong alley. After a cup of pine tea, songcha, come braised lotus root, dotori-muk (acorn jelly), seasoned wild greens, pancakes and fritters, all gently seasoned, with sweet-sour pickles supplying the sharper notes. Upstairs, a gallery room shows paintings and crafts, and the owner sometimes plays the piano for guests.
