Sanchon 산촌

The restaurant is on the main road in Seongsan-myeon, where you come down off Daegwallyeong into Gangneung, but the building sits lower than the road and is easy to miss. The hwangtae ttukbaegi is a clear broth with plenty of dried pollack and mussels, and the bowl is large. The spicy myeongnan version adds pollack roe to the same broth and brings real heat. The grilled hwangtae set comes with red-glazed, moist dried pollack, a small pot of soup and firm tofu.
