Ogudangdang Bonjeom has been serving ssambap in Bupyeong, Incheon since 1996 and has earned a Blue Ribbon for seven consecutive years. The centerpiece of every meal is the house ssamjang, generously packed with Korean freshwater snails and crushed nuts, yielding a texture reminiscent of thin peanut butter and a savory, clean flavor that never turns salty. Seven varieties of wrapping greens, including kale and mustard leaves, arrive fresh from the restaurant's own farm in Naju, Jeollanam-do, and refills are provided without hesitation. The stir-fried pork carries a touch of sweetness tempered by a subtle charcoal aroma, and alternatives such as smoked pork and beef bulgogi are also available. Each set includes steamed egg and soup — doenjang jjigae on weekdays, miyeok-guk with dried pollock on weekends — filling the table generously. A half-bottle of dongdongju, nicknamed bandongju, is offered once per table for just 1,000 won, making it an outstanding pairing for the meal. At roughly 13,000 won per person, the price-to-quality ratio is genuinely impressive, especially considering the care put into each element down to the pressure-cooked rice. Solo dining is not available, as orders start from two servings, and phone reservations require a minimum of five guests. Evening visits almost always involve a wait, with each queued party taking roughly one to two minutes to clear. General seating areas can feel drafty in winter, making the private rooms the more comfortable choice during colder months.
