Namgyeong Makguksu 남경막국수

A makguksu (buckwheat noodle) restaurant near Daepo Port in Sokcho. The signature deulkkae (perilla seed) makguksu was loaded with perilla, delivering a deeply nutty aroma while staying clean on the palate. The bibim version stood out for its strong chamnamul (wild parsley) fragrance, giving it a character quite different from typical spicy cold noodles. The gondeure makguksu offered a soy-sauce-based sweet-sour twist. The squid sundae had a satisfyingly chewy filling packed with glass noodles. The buckwheat noodles had the characteristic texture of slightly softened exteriors with springy centers. The chef-owner personally visited each table, and even with a queue, the wait moved quickly - about 30 minutes. Combining the visit with a stroll around Daepo Port makes for a well-rounded Sokcho outing.
