Jeonju Jangjakbul Gomtang is a traditional beef bone soup restaurant on a main road in Guri (Namyangju Jinjeop area), Gyeonggi Province, that lives up to its name by simmering its broth over real firewood in oversized cast-iron cauldrons for extended hours. The menu features gomtang, doganitang (ox knee soup), and kkori-gomtang (oxtail soup), all sharing a broth that is deep and rich yet clean-tasting, achieved without artificial seasoning. Thin-sliced beef in the soup is tender and plentiful, delivering strong value relative to the price. The oxtail version can be somewhat tough, so most regular visitors recommend the standard gomtang or doganitang.
