호수매운탕
Hosu Maeuntang is a freshwater fish soup restaurant on Seongseong 2-gil in Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, recognized as one of the city's top three eojuk (fish porridge) establishments alongside Mangang and Sambo. Its location directly beside Seongseong Lake Park creates a natural post-meal walking route. The signature eojuk is assertively spicy by default, yet the kitchen eliminates any muddy or fishy off-notes entirely, producing a clean and bold bowl. Noodles are cooked right inside the pot, and pulling them out at peak doneness delivers a warming, tongue-tingling experience that soothes from the first spoonful. Perilla seeds and leaves infuse the porridge with a nutty fragrance, and large hand-torn sujebi dumplings join the mix, so diners get porridge, noodles, and sujebi all in a single serving. Adding cheongyang peppers amplifies the heat for a deeper, more layered spice profile. Orders for multiple portions arrive in a large communal pot for sharing, while the solo option is a mixed-fish maeuntang that comes in a surprisingly generous quantity. Among the sides, the freshwater shrimp pancake is a must-order item prized for its crispy texture, and the menu also covers dasligi and catfish variations. The mul-kimchi and kkakdugi served as banchan pair naturally with the fiery porridge. The restaurant is spacious with a large parking lot, but seats begin filling well before the 11 AM opening, so arriving early is strongly advisable.
