흥부네밥상
Heungbune Bapsang is a Korean set-meal restaurant in Josan-ri, Yangyang-eup, Gangwon-do, conveniently located for visitors heading to or from Naksansa Temple or returning to Seoul from Sokcho. The centerpiece of the meal is gondeure dolsot bap — stone-pot rice cooked with mountain greens and mineral spring water that grows sweeter with every chew, its glossy grains satisfying enough to stand on their own. After the meal, pouring water into the hot stone pot produces nurungji, a toasted rice crust with a nutty, earthy flavor that rounds out the dining experience. Banchan are arranged with care and refilled freely: the grilled napseumi fish arrives crisp and free of fishiness, cooked in a style closer to tempura than standard grilling, and additional dishes such as dwaeji bulgogi and japchae fill out the spread. Each diner receives one grilled fish as a default, contributing to the meal's strong perceived value. The doenjang jjigae divides opinion — some find its depth satisfying while others consider it understated — and a sundubu accompanies the meal as well. The overall composition rivals a full hanjeongsik course at a price point that feels notably generous. The dining room is compact with a limited number of tables, and weekend mornings draw crowds early, so queues form quickly. Phone reservations require pre-ordering the menu at the time of booking, and last orders fall between 2:30 and 3:00 PM, meaning late lunchers need to plan ahead. The parking area is spacious, making car access straightforward. The owner's warm hospitality and the evident care put into each dish are consistently cited as reasons to return.
