해촌
A second-generation Korean restaurant near Mokpo's Pyeonghwa Plaza in Jeollanam-do, specializing in clam (bajilak) and octopus (nakji) dishes since 2003. The signature bajilak-bibimbap features fresh clams dressed in a distinctive sweet-and-sour sauce made with makgeolli (rice wine) vinegar, served in a large mixing bowl alongside a separate rice portion and six or more neatly arranged side dishes in colorful pottery. The vinegar-based sauce leans sweet, so diners who prefer savory flavors over tangy sweetness should opt for the bajilak-jeongol (clam hot pot) or yeonpo-tang (octopus soup) instead. The bajilak-juk (clam porridge) is made with mung beans for a smooth, gentle texture and moderate seasoning that suits all ages. A clear clam broth served alongside the mains adds a sharp, clean counterpoint to the richer dishes. The restaurant interior has been recently remodeled, maintaining a clean appearance with generous spacing between tables. The yeonpo-tang uses domestically sourced octopus known for its tender texture and is worth ordering separately. During peak meal hours a wait is likely, and since street parking in front of the restaurant is limited, nearby public parking lots are the practical option.
