Dongnamjip 동남집

Dongnamjip is a Korean soup restaurant on the ground floor of Shinhan Innoplex along Gasan Digital 1-ro in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. Its core menu separates several cuts and textures of beef through different bowls. Yangji gomtang places shredded brisket and scallion in a clear beef broth, while teuk gomtang increases the amount of meat in the same light soup format. Galbitang and king galbitang use bone-in beef ribs that rise above a deep bowl, visibly distinct from the thin brisket pieces in gomtang. Freshly boiled somyeon noodles arrive in a separate small bowl beside the hot soup. The noodles can be added first, leaving rice for a later stage when the broth has taken on more starch and beef flavor. Napa cabbage kimchi, cubed radish kimchi, and green onion kimchi supply different cuts, fermentation levels, and crunch beside the mild stock. The kitchen also prepares red-broth options such as spicy makchang gukbap and spicy yang gukbap. Dumpling soup, large steamed dumplings, sliced boiled beef, and boiled ox knee broaden the menu without repeating the same cut of meat. A shared spicy galbi-jjim combines bone-in ribs, glass noodles, cylindrical rice cakes, and flat fried dumplings in a thick red sauce. The sauce settles between the noodles and rice cakes while the fried dumplings soften at their edges. Dongnam bulgogi follows a different preparation: thin beef and shredded green onion cook across a broad pan rather than simmering around large bones. Fried rice can be made in the seasoned surface left by the braised ribs, with grains picking up the concentrated red sauce from the pan. The dining room is a compact ground-floor commercial space arranged with conventional tables. Each setting has room for a deep soup bowl, the separate noodle bowl, rice, and several small kimchi dishes, while the wider galbi-jjim and bulgogi pans occupy the center of a shared table.
