Daewondang 대원당

Opened in 1968, the bakery now fills an entire five-story building at the Toegye-ro intersection in Chuncheon with its shop and baking floors. It is said to be where mammoth-ppang (mammoth bread) was first made, and the wide ground floor carries the breads a Korean neighborhood bakery is expected to have: danpat-ppang (red-bean buns), pa-bagels, vegetable bread and sandwiches. There is cafe seating upstairs, but on weekends and holidays it fills quickly, and you end up taking the bread to go.
