You choose your crab on the ground floor and have it weighed, then go upstairs to eat. The building is set a little apart from Ganggu's main strip, so it is quiet, and the second-floor windows look out on the East Sea coast. While the crab steams, assorted sashimi, freshly fried mushroom pancakes, shrimp tempura and a gochujang cold raw-fish soup come out first. The steamed daege (snow crab) is split into legs and body with the shells already scored, and the meat slides out easily. The meal closes with gedakji bibimbap, rice mixed in the shell with popping flying fish roe, and a peppery crab ramyeon. Outside the domestic season, Russian bakdal crab is served instead.
