Every table holds a large mixing bowl with gochujang, sesame oil and crumbled seaweed, and the custom is to spoon in side dishes and stew and mix your own bibimbap. The restaurant appeared in the Korea episode of the Japanese drama Solitary Gourmet, and the walls now carry photos and autographs from the shoot, yet it still feeds the Pyeonghwa-dong neighborhood day to day. The basic home-style set comes with cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), kimchi stew or shrimp soup; most people pair the bulgogi set with cheonggukjang. Eight to ten side dishes and a fried egg arrive with every meal, followed by sungnyung, a toasty scorched-rice tea.
