Seorak Hoe Guksu 설악회국수

Seorak Hoe Guksu is a raw fish noodle and hoe muchim specialist in Dongmyeong-dong, Sokcho, with a devoted following of repeat visitors. The signature hoeguksu comes with a generous portion of sliced flatfish - roughly a whole fish's worth - dressed in a tangy-sweet sauce that is addictive from the first bite. Ojingeo sundae (stuffed squid) is considered an essential side order, and the gomchi altang (scorpionfish roe soup) is another standout. The hoedeopbap is served with a refined pomegranate vinegar sauce that adds flavor without being overpowering. When two diners order one hoeguksu and one ojingeo sundae, the restaurant thoughtfully splits the noodle bowl into two servings. The family-run shop also offers janchi guksu for younger children, and one to two cars can park in front.
