Window seats on the second floor of The Plaza hotel look straight down on Seoul Plaza, and City Hall Station connects through the underground arcade. Weekday dinners run as a single seating, while weekends split into two. The buffet trims the usual sprawl to four live-cooking stations: Chinese, Japanese, grill and dessert. Lamb chops lead the grill, which also cooks steak, LA galbi (flanken-cut short ribs) and lobster to order, and pastas are made on the spot. On the Chinese side, Peking duck and buldojang, a long-simmered soup of meat and seafood stocks, stand out, while steamed snow crab and dim sum hide under wooden lids that are easy to miss. Dessert means fresh-pressed juice, a chocolate fountain and house-made ice cream in flavors such as ripe persimmon.
