Sanihwa 산이화

Note a birthday when you book, and the person celebrating gets a separate table set with seaweed soup. Even the basic Yeonsanhong set runs from chilled cucumber soup and mung bean porridge through japchae, seasonal jeon, boiled pork and fried shrimp to perilla soup, stir-fried webfoot octopus, tteokgalbi and braised half-dried pollock, so there is no need to move up to a pricier course to leave full. After more than 20 years the dining rooms look a little worn, but the garden outside is well kept and lit up at night. When the meal is over, guests move to a side room for chrysanthemum or hydrangea tea.
