Pungmiyeon is a 24-hour seolleongtang (ox bone soup) restaurant located a three-minute walk from Exit 1 of Nowon Station in Nowon-gu, Seoul, and stands as one of the longest-running and busiest establishments on Nowon's Culture Street. The centerpiece is a deeply concentrated bone broth simmered to a viscosity that leaves a collagen film on the lips. The yangji sagol seolleongtang, priced around 12,000 won, blends galbi-tang stock for a slightly more seasoned profile. Noodle additions cost 1,000 won, and takeout orders receive a 2,000-won discount in lieu of rice and kimchi. Beyond seolleongtang, the haenae-tang is a popular choice, packed with generous offal, ox tripe, and outer cabbage leaves in a spicy, stomach-settling broth that benefits from an extra drizzle of chili oil. The spicy braised galbi provides ample portions well-suited for pairing with soju, while the kkori-jjim (oxtail stew) is available at a premium price point. A particular point of local fame is the house-made kimchi, stuffed generously with seasoning paste and available for unlimited self-service refills. The kimchi quality dipped at one point but has since recovered to approximately its former standard. Kkakdugi and pickled onions also complement the broths well. The restaurant is spacious with tables for two accommodating solo diners, and seating is generally arranged to separate drinking parties from meal-only guests. Parking is convenient, though the atmosphere grows quite boisterous during evening hours when drinking patrons dominate.
