Run by two friends born in 1980, this Gwanak-gu Chinese restaurant in Sillim-dong has built a fierce following. The jjajangmyeon arrives gan-jjajang style with translucent stir-fried onions and a fried egg on top. The noodles are thinner than typical, closer to spaghetti, but the well-seasoned sauce coats them neatly. The haemul jjamppong is loaded with meaty octopus and has a broth that is both hefty and deeply seafood-forward. The old-school bokkeumbap comes with rice fried crisp and dry, again topped with a fried egg, and spooning the gan-jjajang sauce over it doubles the umami. Yuringi is fried to a proper crunch, and the sirloin tangsuyuk uses a lemon sauce that stays refreshing rather than cloying. With only about nine tables, even a weekday evening can mean a 50-plus-minute wait, so lining up early is essential.
