Run by two friends born in 1980, this Gwanak-gu Chinese restaurant in Sillim-dong has built a fierce following. I had the jjajangmyeon, which arrives gan-jjajang style with translucent stir-fried onions and a fried egg on top. The noodles are thinner than typical - closer to spaghetti - but the well-seasoned sauce coated them nicely. The haemul jjamppong was loaded with meaty octopus and had a broth that was both hefty and deeply seafood-forward. The old-school bokkeumbap came with rice fried crisp and dry, again topped with a fried egg, and spooning the gan-jjajang sauce over it doubled the umami. The yuringi was fried to a proper crunch, and the sirloin tangsuyuk had a lemon sauce that stayed refreshing rather than cloying. With only about nine tables, even a weekday evening means a 50-plus-minute wait, so lining up early is essential.
