텐동 요츠야
Tendon Yotsuya on Sharosu-gil in Gwanak-gu has earned its place among Seoul's most respected tendon restaurants. The signature tokujo (premium) tendon, priced around 13,000 won, features remarkably thin, crispy batter that clings to each ingredient without any greasy residue. The freshness of the seafood and vegetables is apparent in every bite — even eggplant, typically polarizing, becomes genuinely enjoyable through the kitchen's frying technique. The tare sauce is ladled from above, which means the rice at the bottom sometimes receives less coverage, though adding shichimi togarashi on the table helps balance the flavor throughout the bowl. An onsen egg is a worthwhile addition, and the drink menu complements the meal well with options like draft beer at around 3,000 won, Ramune soda, and kakubin highball. The restaurant expanded and relocated to a larger space while retaining its faithful Japanese-style interior, including details like green tea water pitchers that evoke an authentic Tokyo tendon shop. A basement floor operates with a separate menu featuring items like conger eel tempura. Wait times regularly exceed one hour during peak periods, and food preparation adds further time after seating, so planning for a leisurely visit is essential. The restaurant is accessible on foot from Seoul National University Station.
