진동둔횟집
Jindongdun Hoetjip is a long-established raw fish restaurant in Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, specializing in sekoshi — thinly sliced raw fish served bone-in. Its reputation in this niche is strong enough to inspire the local saying that the building was 'built on sekoshi,' and it stands as one of the few places in the heart of Gangnam where properly handled raw fish can be enjoyed. The seasonal rotation — flatfish, red sea bream, black sea bream, flounder, pomfret, greenling, gizzard shad, among others — ensures a different selection on each visit. Every piece is fresh and aged to a precise degree, allowing the natural umami of each fish to come through clearly. The house-blended gochujang and ssamjang are singled out for their impeccable ratio; wrapping the fish in greens with the sauces reportedly makes alcohol disappear at an alarming rate. The banchan lineup is restrained rather than lavish, but items like braised kodari and anchovy jorim are excellent drinking companions in their own right. A common finishing move is to order a bowl of rice, add remaining fish and a generous scoop of gochujang, and mix it all together for a final bibimbap-style course. All alcohol is corkage-free, and staff smoothly provide chilling for wine and on-the-rocks glasses with ice for whiskey without being asked. A per-person assorted sashimi platter around 49,000 won is enough for a full meal without additional orders, and regulars with established relationships sometimes receive off-menu service. Reserving in advance opens access to private rooms, making the restaurant suitable for departmental dinners and group events. Valet parking is available for 3,000 won. During evening hours, the convergence of gatherings and drinking parties can slow service noticeably, and the restaurant does not operate late, so a second venue needs to be planned separately. The clientele skews toward seasoned regulars with an older demographic, giving the place an authentic nopo atmosphere.
