Hamyangjip is a ninety-year-old Korean beef restaurant at the entrance to Gyeongju's Bomun Tourist Complex, renowned for its hanwoo mul-hoe (cold beef tartare soup). Fresh Korean beef tartare is served in a tangy, savory broth whose depth of flavor extends well beyond typical chogochujang, producing a sauce that clings to the palate with addictive umami. Mixing rice into the broth elevates the dish further, and the small portion of somyeon noodles included with the order rounds out a filling meal. The hanwoo bibimbap is equally accomplished, with perilla powder and sesame oil creating a deeply nutty fragrance that complements the tender beef slices. The tteokgalbi, however, is considered by some to lack distinction relative to its price. Because ingredient supplies run out quickly, remote queuing through the Tabling app before arrival is practically essential — even on weekdays, the waitlist often closes by 6:30 PM. The waiting area is confined and can get uncomfortably warm, so staying in a parked car until called is advisable. Street-side parking near the restaurant is limited due to narrow alleyways, making the nearby public parking lot the more convenient option. Orders are placed through tablets at each table and delivered by service robots.
