Geondori Hoejip 건도리 횟집

Geondori Hoejip is a large seafood restaurant facing Gyeongpo Beach on Changhae-ro in Gangneung, serving seasonal sashimi, snow crab, and an extensive series of cooked side dishes. The Geondori Special spreads thick slices of seasonal fish such as red sea bream, flounder, large olive flounder, and sea bass across chilled plates. White flesh differs in grain direction, translucency, fat, and resistance by species. Wasabi and soy sauce, fermented dipping paste, and white kimchi remain separate, giving each slice a different accompaniment. The assorted sashimi set centers on roughly three fish, with olive flounder, rockfish, and striped beakfish among the served combinations. A single-species flounder order separates dorsal and belly portions of one fish. The snow-crab and sashimi set adds steamed legs and body meat to seasonal raw fish and the accompanying dishes. Rice is mixed in the crab shell with the remaining tomalley, moving from firm leg fibers to grains coated in concentrated shellfish flavor. Side plates include raw abalone and sea squirt, grilled fish, fried seafood, fried tofu, corn cheese, sweet crispy chicken, yuringi, cream shrimp, and basil pasta. Their roles are physically distinct: fried items arrive hot and crisp; raw fish stays cold with a clean cut surface; pasta carries sauce along soft strands; corn cheese combines melted dairy with kernels; abalone and sea squirt retain marine salinity and firmer bite. Spicy fish stew uses fish bones and vegetables in red broth after the raw slices have been removed. Rice and kimchi remain available beside the pot. The restaurant extends through broad halls on the first and second floors, with upper terrace and room-style seating. Large windows open toward Gyeongpo Beach and the coastal pines. Wide tables place sashimi at the center, then distribute hot fried plates, cold shellfish, pasta, crab tools, individual dipping saucers, and later the stew around its edges without stacking them into one course vessel.
