개성만두 궁
A Gaeseong-style dumpling specialist located in front of Gyeongin Museum of Fine Arts on Insadong's main alley, listed in the Michelin Guide Seoul since 2017 and re-selected in 2025. Ajummas (elder women) hand-fold dumplings at the hanok entrance, setting the tone for the craftsmanship behind each dish. The dumpling skins are thin yet sturdy enough to hold generous, weighty fillings without tearing. The kimchi mandu-guk comes with six large dumplings whose crunchy kimchi filling is well-seasoned enough to enjoy without additional condiments. The meat dumplings have a subtler, more understated flavor and are best dipped in the accompanying soy sauce. The yangji (brisket) broth is clear and clean with no trace of artificial seasoning, and a popular way to eat is adding rice into the broth for a gukbap-style meal. The joraengi-tteok mandu-guk offers a chewy rice cake twist, and the mandu jeongol (hot pot) works well for groups sharing a communal meal. Banchan highlights include well-fermented dongchimi (radish water kimchi) and kkakdugi. The restaurant sees a high proportion of international visitors, particularly from Japan, and wait times are common during lunch hours.
