Baobi 바오비

The Taiwanese beef noodle soup here has shiitake in the broth, so it smells more of mushroom than most versions. The beef is tender and generous, and there is barely any heat. Majiang mian, sesame noodles, comes with jambon ham and chili oil on the side to stir in. Baos come two ways: the classic with a chewy steamed bun, and the Sichuan chicken, karaage-style fried chicken brushed with a tingly sauce. Bar seats make a solo meal easy, and on rainy days each guest gets an Earl Grey milk tea on the house.
