Uijeongbu Budae-jjigae 의정부부대찌개

Once the pot lands, the lid stays shut: the owner makes the rounds, adjusting the flame, topping up stock and announcing when it is ready to eat. The base budae-jjigae, a ham-and-sausage stew, comes packed with ham, tofu, glass noodles and scallions, with ramen or rice cake as add-ons, and rice refills are free. The old shop is kept spotless and sits about 250 meters from Mangwon Station.
